Best Sports Management Games for Mobile and PC (2026)

A lot of "best sports management games" lists are really soccer lists with a baseball game tacked on at the end. That doesn't help much if you want to run a hockey team on your phone or a baseball franchise on your laptop.

I build football management games, and I play the genre across every sport. So instead of ranking five soccer games, this list picks the best management game for each sport: football, soccer, baseball, basketball and hockey. For each one you get the platforms, the price, what it does well and where it falls short.

The numbers go by sport, not by rank. Football comes first because that's what I make, so take that section with that in mind.

1. Football: Winning Tradition: College Football Coach 27 and Pro Football Coach 27

Platform: iPhone, iPad, Android (PC on Steam in the works)  |  Price: Free to download (optional in-app purchase)

These are my games. Football is a hard sport to manage well in a game. Rosters are huge, every position group matters, and the playbook is half the strategy. Most football management games make you choose between running the front office and coaching on game day. I built Winning Tradition so you don't have to choose.

There are two games. College Football Coach 27 is about building a program: scholarship and NIL offers, campus visits, Signing Day, and a transfer portal that runs as a live auction against CPU teams. Pro Football Coach 27 is about building a franchise: a live 7-round draft, free agency auctions, the salary cap and the franchise tag. In both, you watch every snap and call the plays yourself, or hand it to your coordinators.

The two games connect. Export a draft class from your college career, import it into your pro league, and the players you recruited show up in your draft.

What it does well: You run the front office and the sideline. Real play calling. College and pro careers that connect. Free to download.

Where it falls short: Phone and tablet only until the Steam version is out. No official NFL license, though the Creation Suite (an optional in-app purchase) lets you import fan-made rosters and leagues.

2. Soccer: Football Manager 27

Platform: PC (Steam, Epic, Xbox PC app), Xbox, PS5, mobile through Netflix, and FM27 Touch on Apple Arcade  |  Price: Paid on PC and console. Included with Game Pass, Netflix or Apple Arcade.

If you've heard of one sports management game, it's this one. Football Manager has been the name in soccer management for over 20 years. You run a club from top to bottom: tactics, training, scouting, transfers, contracts and the press conferences after a bad loss.

FM27 launches November 10. Sports Interactive says this year brings simpler navigation, cup draws, Transfer Deadline Day, a rebuilt news feed and upgrades to match day. You can play it free from October 29 to November 3 if you want to try it before you buy.

What it does well: The deepest soccer management game there is. Clubs and leagues from around the world. On every platform.

Where it falls short: The learning curve is steep, and one season can eat dozens of hours. On mobile you need a Netflix or Apple Arcade subscription instead of buying it once.

3. Baseball: Out of the Park Baseball 27

Platform: PC and Mac (Steam), plus OOTP Baseball 27 Go! on iPhone, iPad and Android  |  Price: $49.99 on PC and Mac (often on sale), $9.99 for Go! on the App Store

Baseball might be the best sport there is for management games, because the sport already runs on numbers. OOTP leans all the way in. It's officially licensed by MLB, MLB Players Inc. and the KBO, so you get real teams and players, and you can start a franchise in 2026 or anywhere in MLB history.

OOTP 27 came out in March with a World Baseball Classic mode, new stats like xBA, Barrel% and Whiff%, smarter trade AI and an upgraded 3D view. You can sim a season in minutes or manage pitch by pitch. Perfect Team mode lets you collect player cards and build a team to take online.

OOTP Baseball 27 Go! is the phone and tablet version, with franchise mode, Perfect Team and the 2026 MLB and KBO rosters.

What it does well: Real MLB teams and players. Start in any season in history. About as deep as sports management gets.

Where it falls short: The most expensive game on this list. The screens are dense and menu-heavy, which is harder on a phone.

4. Basketball: Hoop Land

Platform: iPhone, iPad, Android, plus PC and Mac on Steam (Early Access)  |  Price: Free to download on mobile (in-app purchases), $14.99 on Steam

Hoop Land looks like a retro 2D basketball game, and you can play it that way. Underneath, it's one of the best basketball management sandboxes around. In Franchise Mode you take over a struggling team, scout and draft prospects, sign free agents and make trades. College and pro leagues run side by side every season, so the players you watch in college are the ones you end up drafting.

You can play every game yourself, watch it, or sim it. There's also a Career Mode, a Campus Mode where you create a school and recruit, a Commissioner Mode, and custom leagues you can share with the community. It sits at 95% positive from 741 Steam reviews and 4.8 stars from more than 17,000 App Store ratings.

What it does well: Management and arcade gameplay in one game. College and pro connected. A big custom league community.

Where it falls short: If you want pure front-office depth, it's lighter than a dedicated GM sim. The Steam version is still in Early Access, with a full release expected by the end of 2026.

Runner-up: Basketball GM. It's free, it runs in your browser, and it comes from the same developer as Football GM. It's all tables and box scores, with historical leagues of real players going back to 1947.

5. Hockey: Hockey Legacy Manager 27

Platform: iPhone, iPad, Android, PC (Steam)  |  Price: Free to download on mobile (ads and in-app purchases), $11.99 on Steam

Hockey management games have mostly lived on PC. Hockey Legacy Manager 27 is the rare one built to play on your phone too, and it's made by one developer who has worked on it since 2019. As a small studio, I respect that a lot.

You draft, trade, negotiate contracts, hire coaches and set your lines over careers that run for decades. A full season, playoffs included, sims in under a minute. This year's version adds college hockey with recruiting, eleven starting years from 1930 to 2025 with each era's salary cap and contract rules, and trade trees that show where every player came from and where he went. It plays offline, and there are editors for teams, players, leagues and expansion drafts.

What it does well: Real GM depth on your phone. Fast sims. Plays offline. Cheap on PC.

Where it falls short: No NHL license, so no real logos or players out of the box. The free mobile version has ads.

Runner-up: Franchise Hockey Manager 12 on PC and Mac. It's officially licensed by the NHL, so it has the real logos and players, and you can start in any year of NHL history. It costs around $44.99, and FHM 13 is expected but doesn't have a release date yet.

So which one should you play?

Start with the sport you love. If you want soccer and have the time, Football Manager is the standard. For baseball, nothing touches OOTP. For basketball, Hoop Land gives you management and gameplay in one. For hockey on your phone, Hockey Legacy Manager 27 is the pick.

And if it's football, and you want to be the GM and the head coach at the same time, that's the game I built. College Football Coach 27 and Pro Football Coach 27 are free on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Quick answers

What is a sports management game?

A sports management game puts you in charge of the team instead of the players on the field. You build the roster, sign contracts, draft prospects and set the strategy, then play out the games or sim them. Some let you call plays or coach the game too.

What's the best sports management game on mobile?

It depends on the sport. For football, Winning Tradition. For baseball, OOTP Baseball 27 Go!. For basketball, Hoop Land. For hockey, Hockey Legacy Manager 27. For soccer, Football Manager 27 on Netflix or FM27 Touch on Apple Arcade.

Are there free sports management games?

Yes. College Football Coach 27, Pro Football Coach 27, Hoop Land and Hockey Legacy Manager 27 are all free to download on mobile. Basketball GM is free in your browser.

Which of these can I play on both my phone and PC?

OOTP, Hoop Land, Hockey Legacy Manager 27 and Football Manager 27 all have phone and PC versions. College Football Coach 27 and Pro Football Coach 27 are coming to Steam.
